KARMIC RELATIONSHIPS by Martin Schulman Tutorial:(Part 1 of 3)
If there is anything more fascinating and yet more perplexing than understanding the human psyche, it is how
two human individuals each trying to do their very best with their own challenges, abilities and weaknesses,
hope to find compatible harmony with each other.
There have been many attempts to study the dynamics of relationships, each trying to ferret out a single
or even group of factors that might explain what it is that individuals really experience as they try to
interact with others.
With the advent of the computer age, we have seen an onslaught of dating services, each hoping to match
answers on extensive questionnaires in order to place individuals with a suitable partner. While the premise
of such endeavors sounds intriguing, particularly since it involves the computer's ability to effortlessly
sort and match thousands of inividuals' characteristics along with their likes and dislikes, the statistical
results of such projects, has fallen far short of expectations.
In point of fact, the computer matches that these dating services come up with are often hilariously disjointed and
sadly mismatched on very important levels. Many of these services have all but admitted this by offering backup
guarantees of giving out more matches should the initial ones fail.
The reason for the statistically high failure rate of these services comes from one very noticeable human foible.
People lie! Their applications, even before being considered by computers for matching, are fraught with
exaggerations, self-inflationary remarks, and just plain untruth. In an effort to sound impressive, many people
put wrong height and weight, incorrect years of education, false interests and likes and simply make up an
entire fantasy of what they are really like in the hope that someone will find them more attractive than the
way they perceive themselves.
Thus, through no fault of the computers or the programs they run, this kind of compatibility matching is doomed
to dismal failure even before it starts.
What if we could know a little more about a person than what they put on an application? What if we could
delve into their past lives? Perhaps, if we could use a method of past life regression, we might learn enough
about the inner character of an individual to get a better feel not only for their own relationship needs, but also
what they are capable of giving to another.
If we could do this, we would be able to bypass the weaknesses of faulty application information with a more
thorough and perhaps deeper background for each individual. We might even get a sense for what kind of Karmic
lessons they have incarnated to learn in this life, and from this hopefully match them with someone who
could help them to learn these lessons, while in turn receive help themselves for their own karma.
Unfortunately, there are some problems with this approach as well. Past-life regression is usually attempted
through hypnosis, which few are skilled enough to perform with a disciplined enough approach to make the results
plausible. Self-hypnosis is even less reliable because of the subjectivity of the personal unconscious.
The fact is, there are too many individuals who were either Caesar of Rome or Cleopatra of Egypt in their past lives. It
seems that even under hypnosis, there is just enough hidden ego interference as to justify some imagined form of
greatness that is so remote that it cannot be tested. Yet, it stands to reason, there are many more people in the
world who are not famous, - never were and may never be. They were simply ordinary folk, living ordinary lives
who never made their mark on the world, yet found value within their own existence.
Too many results of hypnotic regression are so contrary to this statistical fact that they are not only hardly
worthy of consideration, but bring into doubt the whole method of hypnotic regression.
